Sources say the building, which reportedly belongs to Chime, was donated to the PDP when the going was good.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken over the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu state.

According to Punch, this is coming on the heels of the defection of the former Enugu state Governor, Sullivan Chime to APC.

Sources say the building, which reportedly belongs to Chime, was donated to the PDP when the going was good.

Speaking on the latest development, an APC member in the state, said it is a sign that the party will take over the seat of government.

He said “The APC has come to stay in Enugu and we are going to take over the state in 2019, there is no going back.”

A PDP member who spoke to newsmen said “Chime gave us (Enugu State PDP) the building when he became governor. We used the building as the Enugu State secretariat of the PDP all through the eight years that Chime served as governor of Enugu State.

“Now that he is no longer the governor, and having also joined another political party, he has taken the building from us and given it to the APC.

“He has the right to do what he did; we (PDP) already have a new secretariat, it is nothing to worry about.”

The Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, who is also from Enugu state, recently declared that the PDP will return to power in 2019.
